First aid training

First aid training

As every year, in addition to renewing the extended* scope of periodic OHS training, all WWtech employees take part in first aid courses organized by WENA Konsulting. The course program, in addition to standards (BLS – Basic Life Support), covers the following issues: Wound management, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Training program: Call for help – launch of the emergency medical system, the role of the witness of the event in the chain of survival Own safety, the victim, the place of the incident. Unconscious victim – dangers resulting from loss of consciousness, safe position. Cardiopulmonary resuscitistion: adult, child. Choking – first aid in choking […]

Milling of the screw press body

Milling of the screw press body

As usual in such tasks, the work consists not only in obtaining the proper surfaces, but also in obtaining the appropriate tolerance of the position of two surfaces relative to each other. Therefore, the most important are the measurements carried out properly, which result not only in the current geomentry but also in the value of corrections taken into account during milling.

Nalubaale HPS, Uganda

Nalubaale HPS, Uganda

Nalubaale Power Station, formerly known as Owen Falls Dam, is a hydroelectric power station across the White Nile near to its source at Lake Victoria in Jinja district. Its Location coordinates are: Latitude= 0.443525, Longitude= 33.1847 respectively. It is the oldest hydropower station in Uganda commissioned in 1954. It was renamed Nalubaale by H.E Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the president of Uganda in 2001. Originally Owen falls dam was designed for ten turbines rated at 15 megawatts (20,000 hp) each (a total of 150 megawatts (200,000 hp). In the the 1990s, the station was refurbished to repair the accumulated wear from a decade of civil disorder. During the repairs, the […]

Excavator in KWB Bełchatów

Excavator in KWB Bełchatów

Multi-bucket excavators working in open-pit mines are one of the largest mobile devices in the world. A characteristic element is a bucket wheel, often with a diameter exceeding 20 m.  And it was the bearing seat of the bucket wheel that was the subject of our concern.  It is clear that the time and cost of dismantling the bucket wheel would be gigantic, which is why the only solution became mobile machining. On the surface, this is a standard work, one obstacle in this case was a spigot with a diameter of Ø630, impossible to disassemble, and located in the center of the Ø1100 socket (an element with holes around the perimeter). The size of this journal also significantly limited the working space of the machine tool. Modification of the machine tool and the use of additional fasteners were required.

Toktogul HPP, Kyrgyzstan

Toktogul HPP, Kyrgyzstan

The Toktogul hydropower plant (HPP), with an installed capacity of 1.2GW, is the biggest power plant in Kyrgyzstan accounting for approximately 40% of the country’s power output. The plant generates approximately 6,000GWh of electricity a year using four vertical Francis turbines of 300MW each. A joint venture of GE Hydro (France) and GE Renewables (Switzerland) was awarded a turnkey contract worth $104m for the Toktogul hydropower plant rehabilitation project. Our participation in this project is the surfaces machining of the upper ring and the lower ring. Due to the location (5000 km), apart from technical challenges, the project was a huge logistical challenge. The machining Power Station and landscapes

Reverse engineering of Kaplan turbine blades

Reverse engineering of Kaplan turbine blades

Due to the erosion and corrosion wear of the old blades, the customer decided to replace them. For this purpose, we made a number of 3D laser measurements and scans to redesign the casting as well as the finished machining. The individual stages are presented in the diagram: In the same way, the steering vanes were recreated. Flanges’ faces machining

Flanges’ faces machining

We processed over 200 flanges on cooling system pipelines with diameters Dn270 – Dn610 near Frankfurt am Man, at the construction site of the new Google server station. The aim was to obtain the correct roughness and flatness parameters of the sealing surface.
