Lay Dam HPP, Alabama, USA

The Lay Dam HPP is a gravity-dam run-of-river power plant on Coosa River, with 6 units of 30 MW where 4 units are foreseen to be upgraded in the near future. All units are of Kaplan type with fixed runner blades known as propeller-type Kaplan turbines. Commisioned in 1967 HPP is operated by Alabama Power Company. Lay Dam HPP is our first American project, carried out in collaboration with Litostroj Hydro, which is responsible for the turbine modernization.    Our scope included machining in the flow section: the lower and upper rings, as well as boring holes for the installation of guide vane journal bearings.   More about line boring: […]

Drum dryers, Poland

Drum dryers, Poland

Using our proprietary technology, we performed the calibration of the drying rolls’ surfaces. Simultaneously, the eccentricity causing radial run-out was eliminated.   Drum dryers are classified as contact dryers with an adhering layer of drying material. This type of dryer uses a steam-heated cylinder, where the moist material is applied to the cylinder’s outer surface. The material is deposited as a thin, uniform layer on the rotating drum, where it is dried within a partial rotation and then scraped off with a special knife. This drying system is versatile, suitable for liquids, various gels, and paste-like substances. These dryers are used in the production of potato flakes, modified starches, yeast, […]
