MILLING COPPER SURFACES

In August, WWTECH engineers completed renovation works in Poland companies regarding steel industry.

Scope of works covered :

• milling of electrodes’ copper junction surfaces

• milling of beams leading pillars’ surfaces

• the deepening of cooling passages’ slots

These works required a great deal of precision, in particular aspects related to roughness and flatness of machined surfaces. Due to the material of which the arms were made, the use of the original, clamping assembly machines on the workpiece was required.

In order to meet the customer’s requirements, it was necessary to use advanced measuring instruments, e.g.: laser tracker and measuring arm.

During the course of the project, significant damage to the next junction surface was found, which qualified it for machining. The undertaking of an additional task, however, did not significantly affected time of works and machining services were completed as established.
